When John and Stacy go on Vacation...

John and Stacy have gone on their annual summertime vacation, leaving the interns to run the farm. We figured, if they've gone on vacation, why shouldn't we have our own mini vacation right here on the farm?

We started out the morning with a little joy ride in the truck around the farm, while Croix entertained us with his musical talent.

We each interpreted "vacation time" with our own personal meaning. Emily, not surprisingly, took her time to catch up on her reading. And just for kicks, you know since we're on vacation, she decided to try out the walk-in cooler as a new spot to curl up with a book.

Andie took the early morning hours to go on a nature walk through the woods behind the cabins. Along the way she spotted some exciting birds and wildlife!

Croix has been enjoying the spaciousness of all the new-found free time, and decided to meditate on the spot, in the rain, in the middle of the dooryard.

And surprisingly, as much as we've been enjoying ourselves, we have found some time to be sure you all can still enjoy your delicious weekly vegetables. This week in your share you can expect to find a colorful late summer assortment of:

Radicchio
Daikon Radishes
Assorted Squash- Zucchini, Summer Squash, and Patty Pan
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Golden Beets
Scallions
Swiss Chard
Parsley

For a quick and delicious fresh salad, try dicing your tomatoes and cucumbers and sprinkling with chopped parsley. Add a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some salt and pepper. This salad is a delicious accompaniment to a simple cheese omelette with some toast.

Blessings on the summer vacation,
Andie, Emily, and Croix
