The Length of Days

Spinach
This Week's Harvest:
Lettuce
New Potatoes
Baby Carrots
Sugar Snap Peas
Radicchio
Basil
Scallions
Zucchini/Summer Squash/Patty Pan Squash
Spinach
Sugar Snap Peas
Radicchio

Everything is on fire these days. The farm is popping with color and growth. The turkeys have left the bird nursery.

The barn swallows are also sending their babies flying out of the nest. Some don't always take to it well. Of course this gives plenty if opportunity for learning about baby birds and, most importantly, building them nests made of flower petals.

The broilers (chickens raised specifically for meat) arrived last week by post and are already losing their fluff and stuff. And this week, everyone's favorite, the ducklings make their appearance at the farm.

(Upon arrival last week)
(Outgrowing their cage this week)

It is in these few months of warmth and light that we make all our food and money. It is a fast and crazy pace but every now and again, we get away for a day to rest, regroup, swim, eat fish and read.
(my favorite chair in all the world)
This lovely bit of flowers is a delivery to our friends at SPACE gallery to celebrate the opening of their new annex tonight. A card attached shares a bit of love as the flowers were ordered from a far away friend.

Last but not least...what to do with radicchio...I love it very lightly cooked. I like to cut it into wedges, coat with olive oil and grill for a short minute. Then, I drizzle with a vinaigrette.

Blessing on the meal-
Stacy
